07/2024 Research and development of hydrogen transport and storage tanks IP.1.1.03.0066

SUMMARY:

The project contributes to increasing the capacity of the metal processing industry in Northern Croatia through cooperation between companies with research organizations and investments in R&D technologies of three innovative hydrogen infrastructure products intended for the transport and storage of hydrogen in gaseous and liquid states to the level of an established and qualified technological system - TRL 8.

 The project develops:

i)                    a cryogenic tank for the transport and storage of liquid hydrogen–container;

ii)                    cryogenic tank for liquid hydrogen transport–semitrailer;

iii)                  high-pressure tank for hydrogen transport and storage.

The implementation of the project strengthens the cross-sectoral cooperation between entrepreneurs, OIŠZ and public bodies, which constitute the target groups of the project.

PROJECT GOALS AND EXPECTED RESULTS:

 The project “Research and Development of Hydrogen Transport and Storage Tanks” worth EUR 2.65 million and lasting 36 months, strengthens the research and development capacities of the metal processing industry of Northern Croatia through cooperation between companies and research organizations and investments in R&D.

Project results:

1.       Development of three innovative hydrogen infrastructure products: - cryogenic container for the transport and storage of liquid hydrogen - cryogenic semi-trailer for the transport of liquid hydrogen - high-pressure tank for the transport and storage of hydrogen

2.       Establishment of a qualified technological system at the TRL 8 level

3.       Strengthening regional competitiveness through cooperation between industry and research institutions

Partner Prokona specializes in mechanical engineering design. Over the years, they have completed a number of successful projects that included the creation of workshop drawings for pressure vessels and calculations of pressure equipment and metal structures.

Their experience in design and consulting makes them an indispensable partner in the project in question.
